Questions shops ask before they switch.

Is Dent Shop Manager an alternative to Mobile Tech RX?

Yes, for PDR and hail repair shops. Dent Shop Manager covers the hail scope, the PDR invoice, claim tracking with a 39-step checklist, payroll for reps and techs, paperwork, hail maps and canvassing in one app. It is priced per shop with unlimited users: $19 a month or $199 a year, and you can start free.

Is Dent Shop Manager an alternative to DentMate?

Yes. PDR techs and shops use it to scope hail damage panel by panel on a phone or tablet and turn the scope into a priced PDR invoice. The same account runs the rest of the shop: claims, photos, payroll, customer emails and hail maps.

Does Dent Shop Manager replace CCC ONE?

No. CCC ONE is estimating software, and Dent Shop Manager does not write estimates or connect to CCC. It gives the estimate writer a clean, typed scope sheet PDF: every panel with its dent count, dent size, oversize dents, replace calls, parts and notes.

Is Dent Shop Manager hail estimating software?

It is a hail scope and PDR invoice tool, not a full estimating system. On each panel you set the dent count (in ranges from 1-5 up to 200+), the size (dime, nickel, quarter or half dollar) and oversize dents. The invoice lists those panels so you can put your price on each one and add R&I or parts.

Is it fast and easy for PDR techs to use at the car?

It is built for the walk-around. Type the VIN and the year, make and model fill in. Tap or hold on each panel to set the count and size. Price the panels and share the scope sheet and invoice PDF by text or email from your phone before you leave the lot.

Can a PDR tech who works for body shops use it?

Yes. Scope the car, price it and hand over a scope sheet and PDR invoice PDF with your business name, phone and address at the top. Today the invoice is made out to the car's owner, with the vehicle, VIN, insurer and claim number; invoices addressed to a body shop as the customer are not built yet.

Can I track wholesale and dealer cars?

Each car is its own job with its VIN, photos, scope, invoice and status on the garage board, so you can see every car you have open and what is left on it. Billing a broker or dealer as a separate company is not built yet.

Does Dent Shop Manager scan VIN barcodes?

Not yet. You type the 17-character VIN and the app decodes the year, make and model for you. Anything you typed yourself stays as you typed it.

How much does Dent Shop Manager cost?

Free to start (up to 10 active cars and 2 users). Monthly is $19 a month and Annual is $199 a year, both with unlimited cars and users and a 7-day free trial. DSM Negotiator, the total loss software, is $1,999 a year with the Annual plan included.

Do I pay per user?

No. Paid plans are priced per shop, not per seat. Add every salesperson, tech, front desk and admin you have.

Does it work on iPhone, iPad and Android?

Yes. Dent Shop Manager runs on iPhone, iPad and Android phones and on the web, with one account and the same claims everywhere.

Does it include hail maps for canvassing?

Yes, on the Annual plan: radar hail swaths from NOAA's MRMS data, spotter reports, live hail cells, warnings and the outlook, refreshed every 10 minutes across the lower 48 states, plus shared door-knock pins for your team.

How does PDR payroll work in Dent Shop Manager?

Each rep gets a drop, a backend commission (flat or a percent of gross), or both. A car becomes payable when it is delivered and every payment is in, then you clear it for payroll. Weekly runs total each person with year-to-date, and paid lines freeze so nothing is paid twice.

What paperwork does it print?

Direction to pay, contracts, rental agreements, vehicle release, hail damage assessment, PDR and repair invoices, claim and adjuster packets, a fee schedule, a W-9 and a damage photo PDF that is compressed under 10 MB for insurer uploads. Free and Monthly PDFs carry a watermark; Annual PDFs are clean.

Can it help when the insurance company totals the car?

Yes. DSM Negotiator reads the adjuster's email, names the tactic and drafts your reply with attorney-reviewed citations where they exist for your state, plus a total loss invoice for your admin, storage and the work you did. You review and send every letter yourself. It is software, not a law firm, and not legal advice.

Who built Dent Shop Manager?

A working auto hail repair company. It started as the system the shop built to track its own paperwork, scopes, insurer calls and payroll, and it has been used inside the shop since 2021.
