Hail map and team canvassing

The Hail Map shows where hail fell on any day: radar-detected hail swaths colored by size, ground-truth spotter reports with hail sizes, and the outlook for where hail is likely next. On today’s date it updates live. Turn on Canvass and your team drops shared door-knock pins on the map, color-coded by result, so nobody knocks the same door twice. Doors knocked count on the sales leaderboard.

Who can do this

• Annual plan and up (Annual, and the DSM Negotiator plan, which includes Annual). Shops on Free or Monthly see an upgrade panel instead.
• Every team member can use the map and drop canvass pins.
• Storm from this day: Owner or Manager.

Steps

Look at a hail day

1. In the left menu, click Hail Map.
2. Pick a day with the date picker, or step one day at a time with the ‹ and › buttons.
3. Use the minimum size dropdown (Min 0.75″+, Min 1″+, Min 1.5″+ or Min 2″+) to hide storms not worth chasing.
4. Read the legend at the bottom: the size bands (0.75″, 1″, 1.5″, 2″ and 2.5″+), how many spotter reports there were and the largest hail reported. Click a report dot to see its size, town and time.
5. Click Satellite to switch to satellite imagery and see the actual neighborhoods.
6. Click Outlook to show where hail is likely next.
7. When you’re looking at today, the legend shows LIVE and a Live Hail button appears. Turn it on to see hail cells from the last 30 minutes and active National Weather Service warnings.

Canvass with your team

1. Click Canvass. The map switches to pin mode and a color key appears.
2. Click a house to drop a pin. Your whole team sees it.
3. With the pin selected, choose its status: No answer, Not interested, Follow up, Appointment or Sold.
4. Type a note (for example “come back after 5” or a gate code) and click Save note.
5. Click an existing pin to open it again. Each pin shows who dropped it, when, and who last updated it. Click Remove to delete a pin.

Turn a hail day into a storm

1. On the day you want, click Storm from this day.
2. Check the Name, State and Tax % and click Create storm.
3. New claims that pick this storm get that day as their date of loss.

See who’s knocking the most doors

In the left menu, click Leaders. Each rep’s row shows doors knocked in the chosen month, doors today and doors sold, next to their cars, drops and backend. Pick a month or a storm at the top to change the window.

Good to know

• Each hail day runs midnight to midnight UTC, which is roughly 7 pm to 7 pm Central time. The legend says so.
• Radar swaths go back to 2014, so you can look up any past storm by date.
• Canvass pins refresh every 15 seconds while Canvass is on, so new pins from teammates appear on their own.
• The Leaders page is on paid plans; doors only show for shops using Canvass.
• The phone app has the Hail Map too (open it from the Home screen), with Satellite, Live, Canvass, Outlook, the minimum hail size and the same pin statuses and notes.
