The Dent Shop Manager app for iPhone and Android puts your shop in your pocket: the garage, every claim’s 39-task checklist, photos and documents, call scripts, payroll, the hail map and canvassing, training, and your team. It works with the same account as the web app. It is a login-only app: shops are created, and plans are bought, on the web at app.dentshopmanager.com.
Who can do this
- Anyone on your team with a Dent Shop Manager login. What each person sees follows their role and permissions, the same as on the web.
- Features that need a paid plan (payroll, storms P&L, leaderboard) or the Annual plan (hail map, training) show an upgrade panel on lower plans. Only the Owner sees an upgrade action, and it takes them to the web.
Steps
Install and log in
- Install Dent Shop Manager from the App Store or Google Play (links are on dentshopmanager.com/download).
- Open the app and tap Log in to your shop.
- Enter your Email and Password and tap Log in. Forgot it? Tap Forgot password? to reset it.
- New to a shop? Ask your owner or manager to invite you, and accept the invite on the web first.
Get around
- The tabs along the bottom are Home, Garage, Payroll and Team. Sales reps and technicians get Ranks (the leaderboard) instead of Team.
- Tap the round + button in the middle to create a new claim.
- From Home you can also open Storms P&L, the Hail Map, Training, Activity and Settings.
Work a claim
- Open a car from the Garage.
- Complete tasks with Mark done, Log call or Submit, add notes, and assign tasks. Tap Undo if you need to.
- Use Edit to change the claim’s details, and the crew section to assign the sales rep and technician.
- Open Files to add photos and documents, tap Make PDF for a photo PDF, or Share files.
- Open Scope, PDR invoice, Call scripts and Finance from the claim.
- Tap a document (such as the Repair authorization or Hail scope sheet) to generate the PDF and share it.
Turn on push notifications
- After you log in, the app asks if it may send notifications. Tap Allow.
- Notifications tell you about things like status changes, task assignments and payments. Tapping one opens the claim it’s about.
Mute categories and set quiet hours
- From Home, open Settings and find Notifications.
- Turn categories on or off: Workflow (status changes and checkpoints), Payroll (cleared cars and payouts paid) and General (everything else).
- Turn on Quiet hours and set the start and end times to silence notifications overnight. They still show up in Activity.
These settings are per shop and apply to every device you’re signed in on, including the web.
Other settings
- Fee & pay defaults: the contract fees and default pay rates (needs the financials permission).
- Shop profile: shows your shop details. Fill in or change them on the web.
- Switch shop: if you belong to more than one shop.
- Replay the app tour, Privacy Policy, Terms of Service and Log out.
- Your profile (opened from Settings) holds your own name, phone and password, and lets you delete your account.
Good to know
- There are no in-app purchases. Billing is only on the web, and only the Owner manages it.
- Signing up a new shop, contract wording, the logo upload, per-person permissions and customer update emails are on the web only.
- When you switch shops, the app goes back to the Home tab for the shop you switched to.
- The app works on small phones and with larger text sizes, so names, insurers and VINs wrap instead of being cut off.
